Band Polo Shirt

All about Band Polo Shirts

When you’re not wearing a band T-shirt, what DO you wear?! It is indeed a strange question for us to ask on our site that sells band shirts, but there’s a reason for it – trust me. So…if you’re anything like me, when you’re NOT sporting your favorite band across your chest, you’re wearing a “cool” polo shirt, and honestly…who makes a cooler polo shirt than one of the originals in the game? I’m of course talking about none other than Fred Perry.

Fred Perry is a British staple that launched all the way back in 1952. Starting as a tennis shirt (Fred Perry was the number one tennis player in the world after all), it quickly became a symbol of mod culture in the 1960s. And if you don’t know much about what mod culture is, it’s a subculture that began in London, focused on music and fashion. In fact, the mod subculture was once perfectly described as a “fashion-obsessed and hedonistic cult of the hyper-cool.” We could certainly try, but there’s no way we would ever be able to top THAT description! Bands like The Rolling Stones and The Who embodied the early mod movement, and many of their fans wore Fred Perry polos to pledge their fandom to the lifestyle those bands catered to. The brand, and their “look,” was then adopted and embraced by the punk rock movement, and thus the iconic laurels that adorn every Fred Perry polo shirt since the brand’s inception, has become synonymous with music aficionados worldwide.

Fred Perry Polo Shirt

Now, if you’re wondering why you just received a history lesson on Fred Perry, I’ll tell you the reason: we just released one of my personal favorite new product lines EVER, and it’s heavily modeled after, you guessed it, Fred Perry’s original polo shirt.

Expertly crafted by our good friends Rock Off in Liverpool, England, drop #1 of these officially licensed tipped polo shirts contain our most iconic and best-selling bands: AC/DC, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Guns N’ Roses, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who:
Drop two, launching sometime in October or November, will contain: Fender, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Nirvana, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, Wu-Tang Clan, and even more! And I for one could not be more excited. No seriously…is it Fall yet?

So there you have it: when you’re not wearing a band T-shirt, you could (and should) still be wearing a band POLO shirt!
